If the F-150 makes grinding noises while turning, the suspension or brakes could be at fault. Owners complain of hearing "squealing" or "rubbing" noises from the front passenger wheel hub when turning right. Brake pads can become worn, causing metal parts to rub together, or a CV axle joint could be broken. Low brake fluid levels can also cause turning noise. However, several F-150 owners found in Ford trucks, right grinding sounds are being generated from a vacuum line leak. The leaks appear in lines connecting Ford's proprietary "IWE" or "integrated wheel end system" to the front hubs. IWE is responsible for shifts between 2WD and 4WD. Cracks may form in the plastic lines that cause noise when the wheels are turned, but not driven forward.

The most common problem when you are hearing a grinding noise when turning are the wheel bearings. Replace both sides in the truck and it should stop the noise.
