There are several reasons that cause the reverse sensor did not work in a Ford Ranger. One of the most common is because of moisture infiltration. Moisture has gotten into the connector or sensor itseLFAnd has shorted out the electrical connection. When this happens, the sensor has to be removed and replaced. It is also possible that a piece of road debris got kicked up by attire and cut the wiring. Depending on the level of damage the wire could be spliced back together or a whole new harness would have to be put in. One of the simplest causes an easiest to fix is a blown fuse, visually inspect the fuse to see if it has been blown.

Most of the time this is due to a fuse problem or to bad connections. This is something that needs checking.
