If Your Ford Transit Connect's battery light is on, it means a few things. It is trying to warn You that there is an issue with the charging system. It's almost always going to be caused by a bad battery or alternator. The battery light comes on when it detects that the voltage in the battery is too low. If the dashboard lights are dim, something is likely wrong with Your battery. If the engine starts but dies immediately, Your alternator probably isn't keeping Your battery charged. If a jump-starts and keeps Your car running, but the car can't start again off of its power, a dead battery is likely Your answer.

If your ford transit van battery is still charging but the battery light is on, the alternator wiring may be faulty.

Its due to the wiring that is in the multiplug. One of those wires will be damaged and the alternator defaults to 154v as its a smart charge system. If wont be receiving a signal from the ECU to tell it what to charge at or the exciter wire is broken. This is normally chaffed wires close to the radiator
