Failure of low beam headlights is a common occurrence on most vehicles, including the Ford Transit Van. If only one has failed, the first thing You should check is the bulb itself; they're not made to last forever, so it's understandable that they'll burn out from time to time. It's exceedingly unlikely though that they'll both go at once -- that's where You've got to start the diagnostics. The first thing You should look at are the fuse and relay (fuses 23 and 24, relay R6). You may also consider the light switch itself, located inside the beam selection lever. If these don't solve Your problem, use a digital multimeter in the bulb sockets, and trace power back to the source.

Dual circuit bulbs caused the problem on my transit, no main beam but high beam working, but the bulbs went and caused the failure of the main beam, try changing bulbs first.

If your ford transit dipped side beams are not working this could be due to faulty bulbs, a faulty relay switch or simply blown fuses.
