When the start stop system is not working in a Ford Transit it is usually caused by a problem with the electrical system. When the electrical system determines that there is not enough reserve capacity in the battery then the start stop system will not work so that it does not leave You stranded. Another reason that the start stop system is not working is when there is a computer problem. It may not be able to tell that the vehicle is stopped so it leaves the engine running. Start stop systems can help reduce the fuel consumption in Your van, but there are problems that can come up with them that can make them not work all the time.

If the stop start is not working on a ford transit model, one method to fix the issue is unplugging the battery and plugging in after 5 minutes.

Have you tried to get to the transit battery especially on the newer vans. It’s under the drivers seat and not very accessible

I can confirm that Ford have just released a statement stating that they are now removing the start stop function period. Why do I know this? Because I have been waiting 12months for my vehicle to arrive at the dealership and they have asked me to sign a document which indicates that by signing this document, you understand that the start stop function will be removed - i'm so frustrated by this as I love the start stop function. Fuel economy (from the chart Ford sent to me) was 1/2 litre better with this function per 100km (7.5 Litres vs 8.0 Litres without start stop), and Co2 emissions are 198g/km vs 210g/km without start stop. Not agreat deal, but it all adds up right?

I bought a brand new 2020 Transit custom and in that 72 month period the stop start worked for 8 months in that period.
