A no-start accompanied by a "clicking" sound in a Chevy Malibu is actually A-Classic symptom of battery failure, but a healthy starter. The clicking is generated as Your starter attempts to draw power from the battery to move its pinion gear and the engine's flywheel. If the starter lacks power it won't be able to fire the engine. This could also be because the car's alternator is failing. Replacing the alternator is considered a moderately expensive repair, while a new battery is relatively minor. Costs to replace the Chevy Malibu's alternator can range between $450-$570 in parts and labor. In rarer cases a fuel pump is malfunctioning, but when clicking is witnessed, 9 times out of 10 You need a new power source.

If your chevy malibu is clicking and not starting then you will need to try to jumpstart the vehicle as the battery is likely flat.

A clicking and no start could also be a bad connection,, more than likely either a loose terminal or corroded wire, maybe evenn try tapping on starter

That's your alternator if it starts then dies
