As the driver of a Dodge Ram 2500 truck, You may be experiencing issues with starting Your vehicle. If You put Your key in the ignition and only hear clicking noises, it indicates that there is an attempt to connect to the battery that is not being fulfilled. This is most likely to occur in the event of a dead battery or loose connections. The first thing You should do is check the connections and wires for looseness, damage, or wear. If they need to be replaced, You can expect to pay between $4 and $25 for parts. If the battery itself cannot be recharged, You will need to pay between $54 and $240 for a new one.

If your Dodge Ram 2500 won't start nine times out of ten, your car's starter needs to be replaced.

The 2020 dodge ram 2500 wont start just clicks causes are a dead battery or a battery cable is loose.

Sounds like a dead battery. Possibly starter or relay. Check battery with a voltmeter at least. No test light. Battery draw tester is even better, a lot of issues are voltage

I have 37,500 miles on my RAM, had starting problems.could hear a click from the starter. Seen several sites about RAM using inferior batteries. Got a new battery with same issue. Had someone under truck to check starter. Would not start, used hammer on starter and tried to start truck. Truck started and he saw sparks coming from starter. Turns out the positive cable nut had loosened 1/4 turn!!!!

Same thing just happened to us, Greg. We've got 26k on our '22 2500 RAM. Out of nowhere, fob would not start the engine. Would hear a click and nothing else. Tried both fobs - same result. Had it towed to the dealer to determine the cable nut was not making the connection. They replaced the nut. Problem solved. By the way, the dealership had a "NOTICE" on this issue from RAM, but no recall has been issued to date. Sounds like this is a problem

I have a Ram 2500 that was having the same issue - it wouldn't start, only clicked. After testing the battery and starter relay, I set up an appointment with the dealer to have the starter checked thinking it would have to be replaced by them since it is still under warranty (13,000 miles). Then I saw this thread. After reading for a few minutes, I crawled under my truck and tightened the nut on the starter from the positive cable 3/4 of a turn - issue resolved....and appointment cancelled. Thanks for sharing everyone!

We have a whole Fleet of Dodge vehicles. It seems like there's an issue always with the starter we have 40 vehicles in our fleet. We've had about 15 starters replaced on them already.
