A blown fuse is the most common reason for steering wheel controls to stop working in a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Generally, replacing the fuse will fix the problem. Your vehicle has a fuse box in the engine compartment and passenger cabin. You can identify which fuse it is by looking at the diagram on the inside cover of the boxes. You'll need to also make sure You replace it with a fuse of the proper amperage rating. The next most common cause is an issue with the steering wheel module. It's not uncommon for this to be shorted out. There may also just be a loose connection. Remove the under-trim and make sure all the cables are secure. Otherwise, You may have a wiring issue or the the cluster of controls has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

This sounds like a malfunction of the clock mechanism which sits behind the steering wheel and links the steering column and the steering wheel touch strips.
