The cabin feels very upscale for an SUV in its price range, the stereo system is easy to use and the suspension is smooth.

The gas mileage is spectacular!
I love my Kia Sorento. It is the first new vehicle I have ever purchased. It is a very spacious car. It is excellent on gas mileage and takes usually less than thirty dollars to fill up. I like that you can see exactly how many miles you can drive before you need a refill. The interior is easy to clean when the kids spill something. I would say maybe do not get black carpet just because it shows all dirt. Definitely worth the price. It also has the third row seat so my kids can spread out.

Spacious and intuitive. Attractive.
My Kia Sorento drives very well. I love the Bluetooth features and display. It is very intuitive and easy to figure out. Also, the storage is great and 3rd row seating is very easy to put up or down. I like the look of the vehicle as well. It is big without looking big. Very attractive.

Review for mid size family cars.
It is a 2020 Kia stretto. Very great on gas can get up 21 miles on highway and 20/19 miles in city. I have a three row more than enough room. I have 4 kids and everyone fits comfortable. Also I had no problems with the vehicle so far tells me someone or something is behind me. Also let’s me know when my tires need and how much they need. Great sound system and apple play is great for long rides. As far as using the phone the person can hear you and your passenger. Great family truck to invest in.

Comfortable and will save you money.
My kia sorento is reliable and full of comfort for the driver and passengers. The gas mileage per mile is wonderful. I save so much money on gas versus my last vehicle. This suv is ideal for large families. With the extra 3rd row seating in the rear I can comfortably fit my family of 6. I love the maintenance indicators. I knew right away when I ran over a nail and my tire pressure was lowering. I’d recommend to anyone looking for an suv.

It is a great car for me and my kids. It provides all the room to shop, still has shown that my car seats still have space, and I love the touch screen and navigation. It is definitely a must have mom favorite! I also live in the Midwest so the AWD is a bigger added bonus!

The comfort in the interior and the established in the road.
I like the vehicle for its vehicle system. I like its space, how manageable it is on the road for both local and long distance trips. It is ideal for any type of road as it is a stable vehicle. It has a good braking system and both internal and external comfort for traveling.

Best vehicle I have owned to date.
I have a 2020 Kia Sorento and absolutely love it. So far I have had no problems. It seats 7, which is great since my husband and I have 4 kids. It drives well and is good in the winter months. We all feel very safe in this vehicle and it is affordable. I love the modern interior and how comfortable it is to ride in. The rear backing camera is also a great feature. I have owned a Kia since my first vehicle when I was 16 and I am now 34. So far I have not been disappointed. They are reliable and affordable. Perfect family vehicle.

My vehicle problem is I do not have a CD player nor do I even get to get satellite radio but in this newer car it does not come with built with it either. I also do not have in my vehicle is a GPS capable like the other cars either. To me also the seats feel uncomfortable and it is a big blind side in the front of the car on both the passenger and driver side.

What Do Critics Say About the Kia Sorento?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2020 Kia Sorento offers a lot of features and functionality bundled together in a budget-friendly SUV, with good owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Kia Sorento at 4.4/5, enjoying the long ten-year warranty coverage, but doesn’t like the limited legroom in the third row.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Sorento a 4.3/5, praising the strong V6 engine, but owners don’t like the relatively small cargo area compared to other SUVs.

What Common Problems Does the 2020 Kia Sorento Have?

Common problems found on the 2020 Kia Sorento include check engine lights, a frozen stereo system, along with delayed gear changes. Overall, these problems are similar to other SUVs from the same year, with lower repair costs as it ages since it has a long warranty that covers a lot of the issues.

Check engine lights are the most widespread complaint from 2020 Sorento owners, showing up within the first 15,000 miles. You will need to use an OBD-II scan tool to read the codes and determine the source of the check engine light. The knock sensor is a known problem, and it fails early. Replacing the knock sensor costs around $250.

A frozen stereo system is another problem found on the 2020 Sorento within the first 1,000 miles. There are software updates available for the stereo system, which improves its reliability. Most dealerships will install these updates for free, while others charge around $50 for labor.

Delayed gear changes have also been reported by some Kia Sorento owners at around 5,000 miles. There are also software updates for the transmission control module, which makes it work better. Usually, these updates are installed for free during normal servicing, while some dealers charge around $100.

There is only one recall on the 2020 Kia Sorento, which is better than some other midsize SUVs from the same year.  The recall covers the towing hitch wiring harness, which can cause a fire even when the vehicle is parked. Kia will replace the harness assembly on affected models for free.

How Long Will the 2020 Kia Sorento Last?

A well-maintained 2020 Kia Sorento can last around 200,000 miles, which is shorter than the long-lasting Toyota Highlander. Regular annual maintenance costs are similar to other midsize SUVs, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $483 per year.

As a used 2020 Sorento reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history report, owners should be prepared to replace the trailing arm for $275, the oxygen sensor costing $400, along with the fuel injectors, which cost around $550.

How Is the Technology?

The standard entertainment technology is very good, and includes a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Optional upgrades include a larger 8-inch touchscreen along with a premium Harman Kardon audio system.

Standard safety technology is fairly basic, and only comes with a rearview camera.

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Forward collision warning
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane keep assist
  • Front parking sensors
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Driver attention monitoring
  • Surround-view parking camera system
  • Lane departure warning

The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $19,750 to $36,250, making it less than a Honda Pilot or Jeep Grand Cherokee. When new, the price range was $26,990 to $41,890. This engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and achieves a combined fuel economy of approximately 25 MPG. The 0-60 MPH run takes about 9 seconds, which is adequate for daily commuting and general driving needs.
  • For those seeking more power, there’s a 3.3-liter V6 engine available, which pumps out 290 horsepower. This more potent engine comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and it offers a combined fuel economy of around 22 MPG. The acceleration from 0 to 60 MPH with the V6 engine is notably quicker, taking about 7.2 seconds, making it a more responsive choice that doesn’t sacrifice too much in fuel efficiency for the extra performance it delivers.

What Colors Does the Kia Sorento Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Kia Sorento?

The 2020 Kia Sorento is often praised for its comfort, making it a compelling choice for families and long-distance travelers alike. The ride quality is smooth and composed, effectively absorbing most road imperfections and providing a quiet cabin experience even at highway speeds. The seats are designed with long-haul comfort in mind, offering good support and a range of adjustments to accommodate drivers and passengers of various sizes. The Sorento’s interior is spacious, offering ample headroom and legroom, especially in the first and second rows.

The third row is more suited to children or smaller adults, which is common among midsize SUVs. Additionally, the climate control system is robust, making sure the interior can be quickly adjusted to a comfortable temperature for all occupants. Higher trims enhance comfort with features such as leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control, further elevating the sense of luxury and relaxation inside the Sorento’s cabin. Overall, the 2020 Kia Sorento delivers a well-rounded package that emphasizes passenger comfort for both short errands and extended journeys.

How Much Storage Space Does the Kia Sorento Have?

The 2020 Kia Sorento offers a generous amount of storage space that can accommodate a variety of needs, whether for daily errands or longer trips. Behind the third row, owners have access to approximately 11.3 cubic feet of cargo space, enough to stow away grocery bags or small carry-on luggage. When the third-row seats are folded down, this space expands significantly to about 38 cubic feet, allowing for larger items such as bicycles, a stroller, or several large suitcases. For those needing even more space, with both the second and third rows folded flat, the Sorento presents an expansive 73 cubic feet of room, perfect for hauling furniture or larger outdoor equipment.

In addition to the main cargo area, the 2020 Sorento is also designed with several small interior storage spaces that contribute to its practicality. These include a glove compartment, a center console bin, door pockets, and a hidden storage compartment under the cargo floor for keeping valuables out of sight. Cupholders and seat-back pockets also add convenience for passengers, making sure that there’s a spot for the sundry items that accompany travelers, from water bottles to electronic devices and travel maps.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The third generation of the Kia Sorento was introduced in 2016, and will be updated in 2021 to the fourth generation.

2015: No major changes from earlier years.

2016: Fully redesigned for the third generation with new styling, upgraded cabin, and stronger engines.

2017: New emergency braking system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offered.

2018: No major changes from earlier years.

2019: Third row standard on all models, turbocharged motor discontinued, and a new 8-speed transmission is offered.

2020: Minor exterior changes, EX and SX Limited models removed from the lineup.

2021: Fully redesigned for the fourth generation with updated engines, new technology, and a more roomy interior.

How Does the Kia Sorento Compare to the Competition?

The 2020 Kia Sorento is a good midsize SUV since it offers a lot of technology features and a practical interior at a reasonable price, although it’s not the best SUV on the market.

The Hyundai Santa Fe is another midsize SUV, which costs about $1,000 more. Both the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe are built on the same base platform, but the Hyundai Santa Fe offers a nicer interior. We recommend the Hyundai Santa Fe since the improved cabin and technology is worth the money.

The Mazda CX-9 is a popular midsize SUV, which is available for around $1,500 more. Standard safety features are better in the Mazda CX-9, while the Kia Sorento offers a longer warranty. We recommend the Mazda CX-9 since it’s more dependable, but both are worth testing to see which you prefer.

Do Owners Recommend the Kia Sorento?

2020 Sorento Reliability
I have a 3.5 yo Sorento, with 40K miles on it. About 30K I recommend getting the fuel injectors cleaned by a mechanic. Other than that I have had no issues, just normal servicing per the owners manual. I do however get the engine oil changed every 5K miles and not the recommended 7.5K miles. The seats are uncomfortable on a long journey. The car has been broken into once, after I had the software upgrade, so I put a club on the steering wheel as a visual deterrent.

2020 Sorento, maybe not as good and previous years.
I have owned several Sorento and was happy to trade the last for this latest version. I enjoy it but do not think it was an upgrade. The mileage is not as good and some of the features that we thought were standard are not included. Oh well, should have checked that before we signed the papers!

I love my Sorrento! I have moved up from a soul to a Sportage and now to a Sorrento. They are all excellent on gas mileage. My Sorrento is a smooth ride with a nice look. Added bonus: third row seat! My nine year old loves sitting back there. I will admit, the Sorrento is definitely the best with trunk space.

2020 Kia Sorento is a great family vehicle!
I love my Sorento! The panoramic sunroof is stunning. The Sorento has so many great safety features, and we love the lane assist and smart cruise control which help keep you 'in check' with lanes and the distance between you and the car in front of you. The blind spot warning system is also terrific. The ac system works so well and my kids love the vents in the rear as well as all the charging ports! We have black leather interior and were concerned that it would be too hot, but it is not. The seats are vented so the heat does not remain trapped in the seat cushions. Also, the folding 3rd rear is super easy to manage! I love how easily the headrests fold and the seats collapse!

The family vehicle that works best for our expanding family.
This car is the absolute best fit for our family. We have an 11 month old, a ten year old and often other kids in the family with us. It is convenient for grocery shopping or hauling the baby’s stuff between houses when we visit her grandparents. The only complaint we would have is that if you are using the third row, you have no space to store anything in the back so doing a road trip with the third row would be virtually impossible. The car drives smoothly, easy to service and loved by the whole family. This was a huge update from our five seat car.

A good family starter car.
Considering it to be 3 rows and seat 7 people including the driver, the engine power is very weak. Feels like driving a mini SUV with the power of a compact car. I wish it had power seats as well. But I do like the apple play. But it is a nice starter family car, lots of room in the back and all the seat rows go down which adds for storage.

Plenty of space too! The back row is a bit tight when up but putting it down gives you tons of cargo room. The black rims make it look super sleek.

GREAT VALUE
GREAT VALUE for mid SUV size. Comfortable seating and smooth ride. The V 6 gives power and is easy on gas mileage

Overall a good vehicle to have on road.
I recently bought this car and it is actually really good. This car can fit an entire family of six, 4 adults and two kids. You can try to fit two have 6 adults, but there is not enough leg room. That said the car itself is really great, and we haven't had a single problem since we bought it. So if you are planning to buy a car, I think you should at least check it out.

Amazing 3 row family SUV, that is safe to drive and fashionable.
I love my Kia Sorento, it feels very luxurious and not cheap. I also love the amazing gas mileage I get. When driving there are different modes like eco which makes your gas mileage better, sport mode which kicks that turbo in, and comfort mode which makes the ride smooth. I also love how Kia has a 100,000 mile warranty!

Love my Sorento! Would recommend it to everyone.
I have not experienced any problems with my vehicle. I really enjoy the way it drives and also the look of the vehicle. The reason I bought the vehicle is because my family was growing and needed something bigger. My children can comfortably sit in the back with plenty of room. I also loved the third seat option that also could become a larger cargo area. With a baby stroller in the back I still have plenty of room for things that I might buy or bring with me.

I love how smooth it drives.
I have had no problems with performance or reliability. My only issues are that the third is smooshed with no leg room and that there are no air vents in the very back for those in the third row/any rear facing carseats. My three month old often cried whenever we took him somewhere because it would be sweltering in the back.

Spacious and affordable car.
Beautiful car. Easy to drive. Good on gas per miles. I have driven Kia's in the past and they are good strong cars that last a long time. The interior of the Sorento is roomy and makes it a good car for anyone that has children with the 3rd row seats that fold up and down. The trunk is spacious and can fit a lot in it. The back up camera and sensors are also a plus so you dont back up into anything. All and all it is a great car.

Nice, comfortable drive for new SUV owners.
The Kia Sorento is a very comfortable, easy drive for an SUV. It drives much like a regular car. For the price, it is a good value, but there are not a lot of bells and whistles. I like the third row seat and space inside. I also really like the ability to see when a car is passing by me when I am in reverse and get alerts for that and people in blind spots.

Great car for road trips with the family.
I love the apple carplay feature, we can play our favorite music apps; Spotify, Pandora, amazon music. Also the auto Bluetooth connected is cool. Our summers are usually over a 100+ degrees. The a/c works great which keeps my kids very happy during the hot summer days.

SUV with third row seating and heated seats!
I mainly bought this car for having third row seating. I like that it has heated cloth seats. I am surprised that for a 2020 it does not have a push to start as I feel most vehicles that year do. One thing I do not like is the fact that it does not give you an option to set the door locks to stay locked once you put it in park. For the price I do not think it is a bad vehicle!

Sorrento, a good family vehicle, small family.
Smooth ride with plenty of space. Customer support is good except for the repairs department. Definitely recommend this vehicle which is good on gas with just enough torque and power. A good family vehicle. But of course we still need more room, still.

Safety features. Rims. Smooth ride.
The Kia Sorento is a family oriented vehicle. It can sit up to eight individuals. It rides really smooth. I enjoy the safety features. Ex. The parking mirror. It alerts when someone is next to the vehicle when you are changing lanes or when someone slams on their brakes.

2016 KIA Sorento
KIA pain in the butt vehicle, I purchased a 2016 KIA SORENTO brand new and all I've had is problems, my heater blower and horn quit working, I took it to Chevrolet Motors in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan and they told me the relay heated up and melted a bunch of wires, One Thousand dollars to replace. I said no and they by-passed the relay now every thing works.

The comfort in the interior and the established in the road.
I like the vehicle for its vehicle system. I like its space, how manageable it is on the road for both local and long distance trips. It is ideal for any type of road as it is a stable vehicle. It has a good braking system and both internal and external comfort for traveling.

Great for a mid-size family who does not really need to use the 3rd row often.
We are a family of 7. Ages 2,3,4,5, and 10 and we all fit comfortably. The only drawback in the storage space available in the trunk. When shopping with the whole family there is not a lot of space to pack everything in the trunk so we usually have to put some items on the floorboard below the kids feet.

Mid size SUV with comfortable 3rd row seat.
It has good get and go for only being a 4 cyl. Model. The blind spot protection feature is extremely helpful, and was one of the selling points for me. Having a 3rd row was also needed. It is comfortable and does not feel like an afterthought. I only wish Sirius XM was installed instead of depending on android auto.
