The 2019 Ford F-150 delivers a versatile range of sizes for every job. We check out the specs to see if it will fit in the average garage.
There are several reasons that Ford sells an average of just over 100 F-150 pickup trucks per hour. That’s not just during business hours, that is happening 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
If you aren’t up for doing the math, that means they have sold 1.7 trucks per minute, during each and every minute of the day. One of the biggest reasons for that success is because of how capable it is. The pickup truck not only delivers a great mix of comfort and style, but also the ability to haul lots of stuff!

We will explore every key dimension that you might need to know before purchasing your next truck and answer your critical questions. Will it fit in your garage? How many people will it seat comfortably? How much storage is there? Let’s get started.
2019 Ford F-150 Quick Overview
In order to understand just how big it is, let’s quickly delve into the trim levels that you will have to choose from. Each one is a bit different, and dimensions will vary from trim to trim.
The 2019 F-150 was available in two-door and four-door layouts with seven main trim levels in 2019 including XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, and the off-road Raptor. The trim levels vary from $40,991 to $73,439 according to our friends at KBB.
The Ford F-150 was also offered with three cab styles including Regular Cab, SuperCab (extended), and SuperCrew (the largest) as well as three available bed lengths.
Regular and SuperCab F-150s were optioned with either a standard 6.5-foot bed or a longer eight-foot bed. The larger SuperCrew cab was offered with either a shorter 5.5-foot bed, or the standard 6.5-foot bed. The Raptor was available in SuperCab or SuperCrew, but only came with the 5.5-foot bed.

Dimensions of Each 2019 F-150 Bed Option
The bed of a pickup truck is one of the most essential elements — it’s what makes a truck a truck. The F-150 has three bed options to choose from, ranging from 5.5 feet, to 6.5 feet, up to the largest, an eight-foot bed.
Knowing exactly what will fit into your 2019 F-150 is critical. Even the smallest bed is capable of hauling quite a bit of stuff, all 2019 F-150 models have 50.6 inches of width at the bed’s most narrow part between the wheels and a depth of 21.4 inches. That means uncut sheets of 48-inch wide plywood will fit flat in the back of the F-150. Your biggest choice will be choosing a length that works best for your needs.
5.5 Foot Bed
- Inside length: 67.1 inches
- Inside height: 21.4 inches
- Width between wheels: 50.6 inches
- Cargo box volume: 52.8 cu. ft.
6.5 Foot Bed

- Inside height: 21.4 inches

Payload capacity will vary depending on engine and configuration. The 3.0L turbodiesel V6 has a maximum payload rating of 1,940 pounds, while the 3.3L V6 has just a bit more at 1,990 pounds (RWD, regular cab with 6.5-foot bed).
The 2.7L twin-turbo V6 comes in at 2,470 pounds (RWD, regular cab with eight-foot bed). Moving up, the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 is rated at 3,230 pounds (RWD, regular cab with an eight-foot bed), and the 5.0L V8 is the winner with up to 3,270 pounds (RWD, regular cab with eight-foot bed).
How Large is the 2019 F-150’s Interior?
Pickup trucks are known for having a surprisingly comfortable ride, despite their size and capability. The 2019 F-150 is no different, you can expect a commanding view of the road from the driver’s seat.
Plus, with seating up to six, you’ll be able to bring your friends or family along on the adventure. Regular Cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew models have identical front-seat space, with 40.8 inches of headroom, 43.9 inches of legroom, and 66.7 inches of shoulder room.
Obviously, those wanting more interior space should opt for the SuperCrew, which has 43.6 inches of rear legroom, compared to 33.5 inches for the SuperCab.
Opt for the XLT, or higher trim levels, and you’ll find additional interior storage bins and pockets to stow your gear. The rear seats even fold up for additional storage under the rear seat. Up front there is tons of space for smaller items, including a large center console bin, complete with a removable tray. There is an additional space just forward of the transmission selector for cell phones and other smaller items.
How Does the 2019 F-150 Size Up to the Competition?
There are a lot of half ton trucks to choose from, other popular models include the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500. Deciphering each company’s nomenclature can be a challenge.
Does Chevy’s Double Cab equate to Ford’s SuperCab? Is “SuperCrew” bigger than just “Crew”? Well, we are here for you. Here is a quick size comparison across the big three pickups.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Chevrolet sold the newly updated fourth-generation 2019 Silverado in Regular Cab, Extended Cab, Double Cab, and Crew Cab. Their “work truck” base model can be had with Regular and Extended Cab sizes.
However, the primary consumer matchup is as follows, Chevy’s Double Cab competes with Ford’s SuperCab, while Chevy’s Crew Cab competes with Ford’s Super Crew. The new Silverado was larger in most dimensions over the previous generation.
- Chevy’s DoubleCab measures 231.7 inches in length, 81.2 inches in width, and ranges from 75.5 inches (but up to 78.4 inches) in height. That makes it almost exactly the same length as the 2019 SuperCab F-150, roughly the same height, but 1.3 inches wider than the Ford. So, consider that when shopping for something that will best fit into your garage!
- Meanwhile, the Silverado Crew Cab measures 231.7 inches long with the 5.5-foot bed, and goes up to 241.2 inches long with the 6.6-foot bed. Height is also 75.5 inches (up to 78.2 inches), and width is also 81.2 inches. That maps closely to the F-150, with the Ford ringing in at about 2 inches longer, but just over an inch shorter.
- Chevrolet offered three bed (box) sizes for 2019, with the Short Box getting 62.9 cu. ft. of space, the Standard Box coming in at 71.7 cu. ft., and the Long Box getting 89.1 cu. ft. of space. That is significantly higher than the 52.8, 62.3, and 77.4 for the F-150’s three bed offerings.
- Payload ratings for the 2019 Silverado go from 2,180 pounds to 3,435 pounds, depending on trim and engine choice. Compare that to the F-150’s range of 1,940 pounds up to 3,270 pounds.
- Chevrolet has three fuel tank sizes including 22 gallons (2WD diesel), 24 gallons (Double Cab and Crew Cab), and 28 gallons (Regular Cab).
What does this all mean? Well, the Silverado delivers about 3 additional inches of front headroom, while most other dimensions are very close to identical. Importantly, the Silverado’s bed width was expanded for 2019, giving it best-in-class volume figures.
2019 Ram 1500
Just like the Silverado, the 2019 Ram 1500 was totally new for the 2019 model year.
Kicking off the fifth-generation Ram half-ton line, the 1500 was available in a variety of configurations including Regular Cab, Quad Cab (standard on most rim levels) or optional Crew Cab. The alignment to Ford’s system is apparent, Quad Cab is to SuperCab as Crew Cab is to SuperCrew.
- The Ram Quad Cab measures 229 inches in length, 82 inches wide, and ranges from 77 inches to 78 inches tall. That makes it a few inches shorter in length than the comparable F-150 SuperCab, height, and width are both roughly the same.
- The larger Crew Cab Ram with a 6.3-foot bed measures 241.8 inches, while height and width remain similar to the smaller Quad Cab. This is about two inches shorter in length than the comparable F-150 SuperCrew, however, the Ram is about two inches wider and a couple of inches shorter.
- Ram offers two bed sizes for 2019. Quad Cab Rams come with a standard six-foot, four-inch bed with 61.5 cu. ft. of space. The Ram 1500 Crew Cabs can be found with the standard bed or a short bed (five feet, seven inches) with 53.9 cu. ft. of space. These numbers are comparable to the two smaller bed sizes for the F-150, however, Dodge does not offer a long bed for the 2019 model year Ram 1500.
- Payload ratings for the 2019 Ram include a payload capacity range of 1,830 pounds up to 2,300 pounds, which is significantly lower than the F-150.
- The 2019 Ram 1500 has a gas tank range of 23 to 26 gallons.
The Ram 1500 is an impressive truck. However, the F-150 is measurably larger and offers a better variety of layouts and options.
