Across the SRX different trim levels of the 2001 Honda CR-V, only one engine is used -- the 2.0L 4Cylinder. It's oil capacity iS4.01 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil. In a pinch, it's possible to use SAE 5W-40 conventional oil, though this is not recommended for reasons I'll get into below. Even though SAE 5W-40 is a little cheaper, it has an inferior viscosity at operating temperature that can cause Your engine to work harder to deliver the same performance. This lack of efficiency means that You're prematurely wearing engine parts with friction, which can lead to trouble down the road. Even though the 5W-30 synthetic may be a little more expensive now, You'll be thanking Yourself for going that route later.

The standard 2.0L inline-4 engine in the 2001 Honda CR-V requires 4 quarts of 5W30 synthetic oil.
