The recommended oil type for the best performance in the 2002 Honda Accord iS5W-20 Synthetic in all temperatures. The capacity iS4.5 quarts with a filter for the 2.3 L 4Cylinder and 4.2 quarts with a filter for the 3.0 L V6 engine. Both have a torque of 33 ft/lbs for the drain plugs. It is really important to use oil because it will help keep the engine clean and different parts lubricated to help with friction. You should change the oil and the filter every 5,000 miles or so because it doesn't last forever. The cost of an oil change if taken to a mechanic is anywhere from $40 to $50 in labor costs with extra costs for parts prices.

All three versions of the 2.3L inline-4 engine (engine code F23A1-4 VTEC, F23A4 7, and F23A5 Y) for the 2002 Honda Accord require 4.5 quarts of 5W20 synthetic oil. The optional 3.0L V6 uses 4.6 quarts of 5W20 synthetic oil.
