The 2003 Honda Civic oil type and capacity is 0W-20 and 3.4 quarts. Having high quality oil is key for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into issues with the oil at some point. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. Bad oil can cause the engine to fail. Knocking noise may show up from the engine. You could experience poor gas mileage. Your oil needs to be changed out someday. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be problems with the engine.

The 2003 Honda Civic's 1.3L inline-4 engine uses 3.4 quarts of oil. The three versions (engine codes D17A1 D17A6, D17A2 D, and D17A7 &) of the optional 1.7L inline-4 engines requires 3.7 quarts of oil. The optional 2.0L inline-4 engine for the 2003 Civic needs 4.4 quarts of oil. All of the oil is the same viscosity, 5W20 synthetic. Honda recommends using 0W20 in the 1.3L inline-4 base engine, but says 5W20 is fine if 0W20 is unavailable.
