The 2004 Chevy Silverado useS4.5 quarts of oil with the 4.3L V6 engine and 6 quarts for all of the other engine types. Chevrolet recommends using SAE 5W-30 full synthetic oil every time that You change it. There are two main types of oil on the market, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic oil is engineered to give You greater wear protection and longer life than standard petroleum based conventional oil. This means it will help Your engine last longer, and You will only need to change it about every 7,500 miles. I recommend checking Your oil at least once every month to make sure that it is full and free from signs of burning or debris that can degrade the quality.
