The 2005 Toyota RAV4 oil type and capacity iS5w30 and 4 quarts for the 2.4L inline-4 engine. Your oil needs to be replaced eventually. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be issues with the engine. Having high quality oil is important for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into issues with this fluid at some point. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. You could experience bad gas mileage. Knocking noise may show up from the engine.

The 2.4L inline-4 is the standard engine that comes in the 2005 Toyota RAV4. It only needs 4 quarts of synthetic blend 5W30 oil.

3.7L without filter, 3.9L with filter of 5W30. It does not require synthetic oil.

Do not mix synthetic with regular oil if you are just topping off. If you are changing the oil and filter then you can use fully synthetic or regular oilwhichever you choose.
