The recommended oil for the 2006 Ford Mustang is dependent on which engine is in it. For the 4.0 L V6 You should be usinG5W-30 Synthetic and for the 4.6 L V8 engine You should use 5W-20 Synthetic. The capacity iS5 quarts with a filter for the 4.0 L V6 and 6 quarts with a filter for the 4.6 L V8 engine. The torque for the drain plug is 19 ft/lbs on the 4.0 L V6 and 18 ft/lbs for the 4.6 L V8. You have to change the oil because it goes bad after a certain point. For the mustang the oil and filter should be changed every 12 months or whenever the oil life indicator comes on.
