The engine oil type that You should be using on Your 2006 Hyundai Sonata is SAE 5W-20 or 5W-30. If You can, try purchasing ILSAC GF-3 fluid. Now, if You live in an area where Your temperature is lower than 0 F, You might want to use SAE 10W-30 instead to better fit Your climate. By now, You should probably know that the engine oil in Your vehicle plays a pretty big role in the health of Your motor. Not only does it keeps its components healthy, but it also cleans them. Keeping Your engine nice and healthy is detrimental to a long lasting life. Keep checking that fluid once a week and top off if it needs it.

The 2006 Hyundai Sonata comes with either the 2.4L inline-4 engine or the 3.3L V6 engine. 5W20 synthetic oil is preferred or 5W30 synthetic oil can used as an alternative. The 2.4L inline-4 has an oil capacity of 4.2 quarts while the 3.3L V6 needs 5.5 quarts of oil.
