The 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee'S3.7l v6 has a capacity of 5 quarts and the 4.7l v8 iS6 quarts and they will both require 5w30 synthetic-based oil as specified by the factory specs. The 5.7l v8 for the SUV requireS7 quarts of 5w20 required for both trim levels and should be filled with synthetic oil. The Jeep can use conventional oil which is cheaper but is not as an effective lubricant and will need to be replaced more often. The service interval for full synthetic iS5500 - 7500 miles. And the conventional is recommended at 3500 miles. The cost for an oil change at an auto service shop will vary between $30 - $50 for conventional and $50 - $80 for synthetic.
