Both engine options for the 2006 Toyota 4Runner take 5W30 synthetic oil. The 4.0L V6 option needs 5.5 quarts worth while the 4.7 V8 engine uses 6.6 quarts.
The appropriate oil for 4Runner 2006 is Amsoil 5w30 or Valvoline 5w30, or I must use SL specifications.

My 4Runner has 227,000 miles and use Mobil 1 synthetic extended performance – high mileage, 5W-30 with a Mobil 1 extended performance M1-102A oil filter. I buy the 5 quart and another single quart at Walmart for a very fair price, and do it myself.
