The 2006 Toyota RAV4 useS4.5 quarts of oil for the 2.4 liter four cylinder engine. It also uses SAE 5W-20 oil and Toyota recommends that You use synthetic whenever You need to change it. There are two main oils that are on the markets these days, conventional and synthetic. Conventional is an older type of oil that is petroleum based, and synthetic is newer and engineered to give You better protection and longer life. That means that You should only need to change synthetic every 7,500 miles compared to every 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend checking Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is free from debris or burning.
