The 2008 GMC Yukon comes in various configurations, each using one of three different engines: You might have the 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.2L (all V8s). Across each engine, You'll use 6 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil. Though it isn't recommended by the manufacturer, it's possible to use SAE 5W-40 conventional for short periods of time in its place. However, it's necessary to replace it with the recommended oil at the next available opportunity. The reason behind this is viscosity; 5W-40 is inferior, as larger numbers mean bad things for an engine.
