The authorized oil for the 2009 Nissan Rogue is any brand with an api certification mark and a viscosity grade of 5w-30 sae. The SUV has an engine oil capacity of 4.8 quarts (4.6 liters) as stated by the manufacturer. The recommended oil replacement service interval iS3500 to 5000 miles on average or every 6 months. You can use conventional or synthetic oil in the vehicle but do not mix them. The conventional fluid is cheaper then the full synthetic but You will have to service the vehicle more often with the conventional because the viscosity of the fluid does not last as long and will lose its effectiveness for keeping the engine components lubricated.

My 09 Rogue has 210,545 mileson it and it still runs quite, smooth, and I Have always run mobile 1 10/40 conventional oil. Unlike my sister who runs synthetic in hers. She has had to replace her valve cover 2 times due to leaky spark plug tube seals. She may get double the miles before an oil change but, those extra miles make her engine run hotter , leading to the seals drying out. Nissan does not require synthetic so my advise is as an old man from the days of 3 month, 3 k mile oil change. It was good enough for your dad and your grandpa so, it's good enough for you. Synthetic oils make you lazy.
