The 2011 BMW X5's cargo area is fairly in line with most compact SUVs, giving You 21.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats, or a total of 61.8 cubic feet with the seats removed or stowed. This is slightly more than the similar 2011 X6 (which comes in at 16.6 to 25.6 cubic feet with the seats in place, or 47.7 to 59.7 cubic feet including the seating area), but slightly less than a 2012 X5, which boastS35.8 and 75.2 cubic feet, respectively. It's easy to find a larger SUV with more cargo space on the market. With that said, most X5 owners don't own X5s because they want to haul a ton of equipment. The '11 model year's numbers are more than sufficient for most use cases, so it's just an added benefit to driving a BMW luxury vehicle.
