The oil capacity for Your 2011 Nissan Altima will depend on which model of engine is in Your vehicle. If You have the standard 2.5L 4Cylinder engine You will have a capacity of 4.9 US quarts when the filter in included but if You have the larger 3.5L V6 engine You will have a capacity of 5.1 US quarts when the filter is included. These models will both need to run on 5W-30 synthetic motor oil. The oil drain plug size for these vehicles will both be the same with a head size of 14mm. If You have access to a torque wrench You will want to set it to 25 ft-lbs in order to remove the plug.

NISSAN recommends Genuine NISSAN Engine Oil available at a NISSAN dealer. If the Nissan engine oil is not used, the approved engine oil for the 2011 Nissan Altima is the viscosity of SAE 5W-30 or the API Certification Mark. The engine oil capacity for the 2011 Nissan Altima QR25DE engine is 4.8 quarts (4.6 liters) and 5.1 quarts (4.8 liters) for the VQ35DE engine.
