The 2013 BMW X3 useS5.1 quarts of oil with the 2.0L 4Cylinder engine, and 6.9 quarts of oil with the 3.0L 6 cylinder engine. BMW recommends that You use SAE 0W-30 full synthetic oil as well each time that You change it. There are two main types of oil on the market today, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is a newer type of oil that is engineered to give You superior lubrication and protection for Your engine's components compared to the petroleum-based conventional option. Synthetic also lasts longer between changes meaning it only needs to be changed every 7,500 miles compared to 3,500 to 5,000 with conventional. Make an effort to check Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is free from debris or damage.
