The 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 useS4.5 quarts of oil on the 4.3L engine, and the 4.8l, 5.3l, 6.0l and 6.2l engines all use 6.0 quarts of oil. Both vehicles use SAE 0W-30 oil, and Chevrolet recommends that You use synthetic. The most common oils that are on the market these days are synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is engineered in a lab to give You better wear protection and longer life compared to conventional petroleum based oil. This means You will only need to change it every 7,500 miles compared to every 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend that You check Your oil at least once a month to make sure it is full and free from signs of debris or damage.
