The recommended oil that should be used in the 2013 Hyundai Sonata is dependent on the engine that is in it. For the 2.0 L 4Cylinder You should be usinG5W-30 Synthetic and for the 2.4 L 4Cylinder engine You should use 5W-20 Synthetic. The capacity for the car iS4.9 quarts with a filter for both the 2.0 L 4Cylinder and the 2.4 L 4Cylinder engine. Both use a torque of 25 to 33 ft/lbs for the drain plugs and new washers should be installed on the drain bolt. The reason it is important to use oil is because it helps to keep the engine clean and running. It is important to change the oil and filter every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. It should be changed because it will go bad after a while.

My hyunday sonata 2013, 2.4 engine seized while driving, went off suddenly. I used 5w-40. Could it be due to the oil? I didnt hear any noise before it happened.

There is a know problem with Hyundai engines for certain years and models and a class action lawsuit that requires Hyundai to replace. I have a 2013 Hyundai sonata. Something went wrong with the engine (did not pass the engine load test) after reporting a loss of acceleration/power and noises... And they replaced the engine for free and even gave me a loaner vehicle for free for the 6 weeks it took to have them replace it.

The 2013 Hyundai Sonata motor oil capacity is 4.86 US quarts (4.6 liters). The SAE 5W-30 or 5W-40 engine oil is recommended for all operating temperatures for the 2013 Hyundai Sonata 2.0L engine and 5W-20 or 5W-30 for the 2.4L engine.

Anyone try 10W-40 instead of 10W-30? If so, have you experienced any issues?
