The 2013 Mazda3 comes in both a sedan and hatchback configuration, so the size of the trunk and cargo space will, predictably, vary. If You exclude the seating area, You'll have between 11.8 cubic feet and 17 cubic feet of space, while including it increases the total space to the range of 11.8 to 42.8 cubic feet. Compared to similarly sized sedans and hatchbacks, this is fairly spacious. The Mazda3 isn't going to be winning any awards for total cargo volume, but it certainly does what it does well; considering it's a compact car, cargo space above a dozen or so cubic feet is somewhat rare. The trunk of some full size sedans only holds a similar amount of cargo, so the Mazda3 does quite well with what it's given.
