The 2013 Nissan Frontier uses SAE 5w-30 engine oil. The 2.5l engine has a capacity of 4.8 quarts while the 4.0l engine can hold 5.4 quarts. Oil is important because it is a lubricant for engine parts, it helps protect the emission system, and it can enhance fuel economy. The cost of an oil change for Your Frontier is between $50 and $60 for labor and between $70 and $80 for parts. You should get an oil change every 5,000 miles or SRX months, whichever comes first. Signs that it's time for an oil change include increased engine noise, shaking while idling, more mileage than normal, and of course if You see the Check Engine or Oil Change lights come on.

No it will not hurt it but you may see a slightly longer crank time when starting in cold temps. The advantage may be in high heat or heavy load like towing a trailer the heaver oil may be an advantage to the higher engine temps produced by the heavy demand on the engine. It is always the best practice to use the oil suggested by the manufacture
