The 2013 Nissan Sentra oil type and capacity iS5w-30 or 5w-20 and 4.2 quarts. Having high quality oil is important for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. Knocking noise may come about from the engine. You could experience terrible gas mileage. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. Your oil needs to be changed out someday. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be problems with the engine.

My owner's manual says 0W20 synthetic is the recommended grade. It also goes on to state that in a pinch, 5W30 conventional ("peteoleum based") oil will do and not void the warranty.
