The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 oil type and capacity iS5W30 and 6 quarts. Your oil needs to be changed out someday. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be problems with the engine. Having high quality oil is essential for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. Knocking noise may arise from the engine. You could experience poor gas mileage.

The oil to use is decos 0-20W. This is a close tolerance motor and therefore the 0-20W. Do not use any other weight as damage could occur. I change oil at 5,000 mi.

All 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models use only engine oil that is approved to the dexos specification or an equivalent engine oil of the 5W-30 viscosity grade. Do not use other viscosity grade oils such as SAE 10W-30, 10W-40, or 20W-50. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L model oil capacity is 6.0 US quarts (5.7 liters) the 5.3L and 6.2L engine oil capacity is 8.5 US quarts (8.0 liters).
