There are three different Toyota Prius models available in model year 2016, and across those models, two different engines are used. There's the 1.8L 4Cylinder of the Prius and Prius V, and then there's the smaller 1.5L 4Cylinder engine of the Prius C. The 1.8L requireS4.4 quarts of SAE 0W-20 full synthetic motor oil, whereas the 1.5L requireS3.9 quarts of the same. In the absence of 0W-20, You can substitute SAE 5W-20 over the short term. This isn't recommended though, and You should revert back to SAE 0W-20 as soon as possible. That's because higher viscosity oils introduce friction, which causes premature wear and tear and eventually failure. Therefore, it's best to use the recommended oil, even if it costs a bit more per oil change, because it will save You in the long term.
