The 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan has a towing capacity of 2,200 pounds and that gives it a tongue weight of 220 pounds. The 3.6L V6 engine has 266 pound feet of torque as well. The payload capacity is up to 1,402 pounds and that includes the weight of the passengers in the cabin. The Tiguan is a capable compact SUV, but it is not the best at towing things. With the 2,200 pound towing limit it will not be able to tow much more than a motorcycle or quad on a trailer. If You need a more capable towing vehicle I recommend checking out some of the larger SUVs and trucks that are on the market.

Alex, I own a 2016 Tiguan SE 4Motion. I have to let you know that the US Import VW Tiguans only have a gas, 2.0 Turbocharged engine. The V6 isn’t an option, perhaps you are thinking about the Touareg?
