2017 Dodge Grand Caravan: What is the oil type and capacity?

Every configuration of the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan -- from the base SE to the SXT to the top of the line GT -- is fitted with the same 3.6L V6 engine. In every case, You'll use the same 5.9 quarts of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic motor oil. In its absence, it's possible (but not advisable) to substitute SAE 5W-30 in the short term. This, however, is not recommended because oils with higher weights mean a thicker viscosity. This introduces friction into the system, causing it to work less efficiently and causing premature wear and tear. Over the long term, this can reduce Your engine's life, so it's always best to use the oil with the lowest numbers that's recommended by Your manufacturer.
