The Ford Escape useS5w- 20 synthetic oil, and has a capacity of 7 quarts. When performing an oil change on the car You will first want to make sure that the vehicle has been parked and off for a couple of hours. Otherwise, the oil in the car will be very hot and You could burn Yourself. Find the oil pan in the engine compartment and locate the drain plug on the underside. Position a bucket under the plug and then remove it. This will allow the oil to drain into the pan. Let it do this until it stops dripping, which may take an hour or so. After it has finished dripping You can put the drain plug back on, then locate the intake port on the top of the oil pan. Using a funnel fill the oil pan to full, but make sure to not overfill. A little under is fine, but going over can lead to leaks and oil burn off. Once it is full close the port up, wipe up any spilt oil and You will be finished.

The standard oil type for 2016 Ford Escape is SAE 5W-20 full synthetic oil. The oil capacity varies by engine type. The truck's 1.5L four cylinder engine hold 4.3 quarts of oil, the 2.0L four cylinder engine holds 5.7 quarts. The 2.5L four cylinder changes the oil viscosity to SAE 5W- 20 and holds 5.7 quarts.

Actually the above for the oil capacity of the engine is NOT correct. Per the Ford Technical Specifications for a 2017 Ford Escape, all engines used: 2.5 L iVCT T-4, 1.5 L EcoBoost I-4 and the Twin scroll 2.0 L Ecoboost I-4. The listed capacity is 5.7 liters of 5W20 oil (I personally would use synthetic) AND a filter change.
If your ford escape is 2.0L eco boost double check your manual. Mine says 5w30 cause 5w20 could cause damage to your motor is turbo as it liquid your oil to much

Well I have a 2017 2.0 and if I put in the 5.7 quarts it barely touches the cross hatched area on the stick. It takes around 7 quarts to fill to the top of the operating range. So either I have the wrong dipstick or there's a major screw up in the capacities for this engine.
