The preferred oil type for 2017 Nissan Sentra is full synthetic motor oil at SAE 0W-20, but using SAE 5W-30 is permissible. The 1.6L 4 cylinder engine has a capacity 4.6 quarts and 1.8L 4 cylinder engine can hold 4.2 quarts, with a filter change.

My son and I have owned Acuras , Toyota and Nissan. My daughter has a 2017 Nissan Sentra. 0w-20 synthetic oil is best . You can go 10,000 miles between pil changes. But conventional 5w-30 oil is good too . You just have to change it every 3,000 miles . But either way . Your car WILL NOT explode !! 10w-30 is a little thick it could possibly cause a knock because of bearing clearances. Just change the oil to correct oil and see if knock goes away .
