The 2018 Kia Soul the the 1.6L four cylinder engine useS3.8 quarts of oil and the 2.0L four cylinder engine useS4.2 quarts. Both of the motors use the same SAE 5W-20 oil, and Kia recommends changing it out for synthetic whenever it needs to be changed. Oil comes in two major varieties, conventional and synthetic. Conventional is the older oil type that is based in petroleum, whereas synthetic is newer and engineered to give You better protection and longer life than conventional. Synthetic only needs to be changed every 7,500 miles compared to 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend checking Your oil at least once a month to make sure there is no damage or debris.

My Kia Soul takes 5W30 and it states it right on the oil cap.

The 2018 Kia Soul has a synthetic blend oil type. The 1.6L 4-cylinder engine use SAE 5W-20 and holds 3.8 quarts of oil. The 2.0L 4-cylinder engine prefers SAE 5W-20 and has the capacity for 4.2 quarts of oil.

It uses 5W20 If it says 5W30 on the cap it is the wrong cap for the engine

Why are they stating that it needs full synthetic oil? I have a 2018 Kia Soul Base. It has 47000 miles on it. Do I need full synthetic oil now?

My kia cap says 5w20,kia dealership put in 5w30 when they changed it they Put in 5 qts oil ,I go straight to kia manufacturer for true info. I'm mechanically knowledgeable,not my first go round ,things don't add up when manufacturer and their mantles tell you what's the auto made and uses.
