Honda Preludes were discontinued in 2001 and they are considered rare by most car collectors. When manufactured were lauded for being a well-designed car. Due to its popularity with a certain crowd, it's very rare to find an unmolested one. The two-door coupe was loosely derived from the Honda Accord and spanned five generations. The Honda Prelude is said to be one of the best-handling cars in itS-Class, truly a driver's car. It was nimble and well balanced, while also maintaining a decent amount of ride comfort. The Prelude name was originally trademarked by Toyota but was amicably given to Honda for use. Prelude competitors included the Toyota Celica, the Nissan Silvia, and the Mitsubishi Eclipse.

The 5th and final generation sold 15,000 world wide per year for five years.Over half of them have been totaled so there are less than 37,000 remaining. There were roughly 20 Civics sold for every Prelude.

I’ve been driving Honda Preludes exclusively for over 20 years now. My first Prelude was a 2nd generation model. I liked the 4th gen body style better, so I’ve been driving the 4th gen for twenty years now. We ( my son and I) now have 3 4th gens. Are they rare? I’ll just say try to find nice, clean 4th gen models like we have and you’ll soon see that not only are they rare, they aren’t cheap either. Also, the H22 vtec engines aren’t easy to find or cheap either.
