There is an open recall on the 2015 Chevy Spark for the transmission. There is a known problem with the pulley and belts in the transmission that can break and cause it to completely fail. You can contact Your Chevrolet dealership with the VIN number on Your Spark to determine if it is part of the recall. If it is then the dealership will replace Your transmission at no cost for You with one that has been updated to not have the problems. Manufacturers issue recalls frequently when they find that there are components failing and not working properly in their cars. It happens to all cars at some point, so it's a pretty routine thing to go through.

My 2015 Spark’s transmission just went out on a road trip this past weekend and is stuck two states away, and I was told there was a recall but GM ended it last year.

The 2015 chevy spark has been recalled for pulley and belt damage in the vehicle's transmission which causes the transmission to fail. To see if your vehicle is affected check with the dealer.

My 2015 Chevrolet Spark started jerking while accelerating a couple of weeks ago. Two days ago, it started stalling. Now I can’t really drive it and am unsure how to fix it. I still owe $3,500 on it too! Where do we report these issues?

Per Chevrolet Internal Service Bulletin PIP5548, Chevy engineers were investigating early transmission failure issue in 2014-2018 Sparks. In Feb 2020, Chevy issued a letter to 2014 Spark owners providing a free 10yr/120k mile transmission warranty.

Initially my dealer said they hadn't heard of any issues... I then called GM and they were able to give me these details: N192271110 — Transmission Pulley Damage (google it). It also says that this only affected about 12% of sparks so it's not a very known problem. I will be speaking with my dealer tomorrow.

Would GM then reimburse the purchase of a transmission from a shop if it was replaced and didn't know about the recall?

I’m also having the same transmission issue described here. I’m going to call the dealership, but when I bought my 2015 spark in early 2021, 3 months in the engine died, luckily it was still under the dealership warranty, but now it’s not and it’s having serious transmission issues. I

My 2015 Spark cvt failed ~ 60k and was replaced by GM at no cost.The second transmission started acting up ~ 120k and did not meet the parameters for the extended replacement program and then failed shortly after. GM said replacement would run $5000. They agreed to pay $2500. Now at 163k , it is going again. The car has been a good vehicle with minimal problems, 6 wheel bearings,AC compressor, expansion tank, and brakes. Not sure if a fourth is worth it. Contacting GM, again.

Get a hold of your GM dealer. If your car it's less than 10 years old in less than 120,000 mi, have the tranny checked out. GM has extended their warranty and replace tranny free if you need the conditions. I was stressing wondering how I was going to pay for a new one when I came across the extended warranty. Mine was replaced free.

Contacted GM requesting replacement of 2015 Chevrolet Spark defective CVT7 JATCO JF015E transmission May 2023. GM answer: The Special coverage N192271110 was open on your vehicle beginning 05/21/2015 until 05/21/2025 or 193,000km, whichever comes first. Your vehicle is outside the parameters @ 197, 614 km. The Total cost for diagnosis and repairs would be @ your expense. ;

I stumbled upon this marvelous thread on March 30th as I was researching everything possible into the transmission issues that my wife was having with her 2015 Chevy Spark. The information provided here, though not all of it accurate, provided me with everything that I needed in going about getting the car repaired. The most important thing to note is that this known transmission issue is not listed under a recall. You will come up empty searching for it under a recall. Instead as correctly stated by some of the previous posters, it is called N192271110 Special Coverage Transmission Pulley Damage. This is what you need, and this is what you need to know about in order to get the defective transmission in some of the 2014-2015 Chevy Sparks replaced free of charge at your chosen GM dealership. Armed with the excellent info from this thread, I immediately went to the main GM website and started a chat with an agent there. The young guy was tremendous, and provided excellent customer service. He set me up an appointment within 2 hours at one of the GM dealerships in my area. That was on March 30th, and today May 10th, we finally got the car back. It was indeed a failed transmission, and was replaced at no cost under the special coverage authorization. Otherwise the cost would have been $3,692.37. I am obviously glad that we did not have to foot the bill for that. However I was not pleased with the Service departament at the GM dealership. It took them 6 weeks to repair the car, and they did not keep me informed with updates. Very poor customer service on their part. In final, to all 2014-2015 Spark owners having transmission issues, contact GM headquarters immediately so that they can set you up to have this horrible transmission replaced at no cost to you.

My transmission has been acting up the past couple weeks. I decided to check for recalls and this is what I found. Chatted with an online GM (Chevy) representative tonight. She stated that my 2015 Spark is within the Special coverage N192271110 Transmission Pulley Damage parameters 09/27/2025 or 120,019. I am so glad I found this thread. I'll be stopping by a certified Chevy dealer when they are open on Monday.

I had my transmission replaced in my 2015 Chevy Spark back in 2017. Received another recall back in 2020 but the dealership said that my transmission was already fixed so it didn't apply to my car even tho my transmission was slipping every so often now that it is 2022 we are scared to drive it anywhere bcuz it is that bad. We can afford another transmission especially since the first time it took them over 3 months to get it fixed. Unfortunately these transmission are trash.
