Can the Safety Connect Feature which use the 3G network be upgraded to 4G or 5G so that my service will not be terminated in 2022?

Unfortunately, Lexus does not provide any upgrade path to move the Safety Connect service to 4g or 5g. The built-in hardware doesn't have the capability of using these networks, so a simple software update won't suffice to move to it. Lexus doesn't have any sway over the telecommunication providers who are pushing for this changeover to newer LTE networks. Be prepared for the Lexus Enform Safety Connect and other services, such as Remote and Destination Assist, to all stop working as of October 31, 2022 at 11:59PM CST. This will impact all Lexus models froM2010 througH2017 and the Lexus GX froM2018.

This is bs. For Lexus to put out a statement they had no control is ludicrous. They opted to put the cheapest in an expensive vehicle. Other manufacturers figured it out. Toyota didn’t care about their customers just their bottom line

I agree with all comments. Anyone interested in trying a class action suit against Lexus/Toyota to get action taken since they've also lowered the resale value of these vehicles?

Hardware upgrade would be possible. However this would extend the useful life of the vehicle. So the decision was made to not provide an upgrade in order to force customers to purchase a new vehicle. Simple bottom line decision.

II agree with the person, above. I purchased my 2017 Lexus RX 350 in September 2017 and I was never told that anythingI purchased my 2017 Lexus RX 350 in September 2017 and I was never told that anything was not upgradable. This is my second Lexus; the first one was a 2001 RX 300 and I liked it so much I purchased basically the same vehicle however I purchasedThis is my second Lexus; the first one was a 2001 RX 300 and I liked it so much I purchased basically the same vehicle however I purchased the top of the line for $60,000 plus!!! This was to be my forever car, for the next 17 years! Now, without this upgrading capability(PS: Volkswagen is upgrading it at no charge to hair customers!, Among others!) I am considering buying a car from a different manufacturer, as I will lose many of the safety capabilities that the very expensive per month Lexus Enform provides! Lexus, you would do well to figure this out, and figure this out quickly or you will lose many many customers!

This is terrible! My car will paid in 4 months. I had planned to buy another Lexus in two years. Not anymore ! How dare you advertise to buy Lexus when some of some of the features won’t work. Subaru did it, why couldn’t you ?

I, like many others, will never purchase another Lexus. This is my 4th Lexus and I have been very happy until now. This is unacceptable and Lexus knows our hands are tied and our only recourse is to not buy another Lexus. I paid for these safety features when I paid a premium price for my car. Lexus, I am very disappointed in you. This is not customer service.

A remote starter that work with a cell phone can be installed in any vehicle, regardless of it’s age. Replacing or upgrading the antenna should do the job. Lexus should at least offer a fix. I would be willing to pay for the upgrade .

Bought my 2017 ES350 at the end of 2016 to be my forever car. Very disappointed with Lexus not upgrading to 4g. I travel a lot by myself and the safety button gives me a sense of security. They are supposed to be top end vehicles.

This is effectively false advertising and fraudulent. There needs to be a class-action suit against Lexus/Toyota to force a recall and updgrade.

Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. For a company that touts high quality and high customer service, this is just a travesty. Lexus needs to FIND a way to update the affected hardware - it sounds like most of us would be willing to pay for that upgrade.

I absolutely agree with everyone here. I expected more from Lexus.It is disappointing to see other manufacturers find answers to this dilemma while Lexus decides to do nothing about it. This is absolutely a way to get people to purchase a new car. What is to say things won’t change with their new models causing a similar impact.. The trust factor in this company is gone. We are just asking for a solution to the features we chose when we bought our cars. We paid for it.

I have a 2017 gx460 luxury with all the bells and whistle’s including a rear seat entertainment system, but I don’t have a remote starter. They should at least give us access to start our cars remotely for fucks sake. Lexus, not moving forward, because I’m spiteful, I am going to buy a car from your competitor

I've been checking on a resolution for this 3G problem for the past year. Lexus and Toyota have known about this problem for years. Here we are year's later and they've done nothing. They just blame it on the cellular companies. Which is BS and very surprised of their neglect for our safety.

I bought a new ES 350 in 2017 mainly because of the Lexus reliability, but also for the other options that I no longer have because they are declining to fix the 3g issue. I’m angry I paid as much as I did for this car when it now doesn’t have a lot of the options I paid for. I intended to buy another new Lexus but never again. You have lost a customer Lexus.
