While the Mercedes-Benz GLC300 does not come equipped from the manufacturer with a spare tire, many drivers choose to add one on their own. This is because the GLC300 comes with "run flat" tires, which isn't much of a consolation prize when they fail -- and fail they will, since they're not meant to be driven long distances once punctured. However, the same can be said about a donut, since You're not intended to drive farther than 50 miles at a low speed. My recommendation, if You have the extra cargo space, is to pick up a full size spare, cover it with a blanket or similar, and forget it exists until You need it. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

We bought new Michelin tires 46,000 miles ago after the original tires wore out at 20,000 miles. Costco said nothing about “run-flats” being required, and we weren’t aware, so we very fortunate to drive the past 4 years without a flat ! Now I’m faced with replacing all 4 tires with “ run-flats “ with a 20,000 mile warranty at $320 per tire, or regular tires with 60,000 mile warranty, and carry a spare ? Any ideas ?

I was surprised to learn 2yrs into new GLC, that theres no spare tire in the trunk. I think this should b a disclosure as i would've equipped the car with at the least, a floor jack.
