The 2005 Honda Civic came factory standard with a 1.6L 4Cylinder engine and there was also an upgrade option for a 2.0L 4Cylinder engine on the higher end trim levels. No matter which model You have they will all run on a timing belt system. 2005 was the last year that Honda used timing belts on the Civic and models from 2006 and newer will use a timing chain. The timing belts are going to need to be replaced on these vehicles every 100,000 miles or 7 years depending on which one occurs first. The cost for total parts and labor to have this job done will range between $500 and $750.

The engine options in the 2005 Honda Civic all use a timing belt that Honda recommends replacing every 110,000 miles or every 7 years; which ever comes first.
