The 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer came factory standard with a 2.0 L 4Cylinder engine but there was also an upgrade option for a 2.4 L 4Cylinder engine. No matter which model You have they will both use a timing belt system. This was the last year of this vehicle to use a belt as starting in 2007 all models came with a chain. The timing belt for this vehicle will need to be replaced between every 80,000 and 100,000 miles so You will most likely only need to do this job once but maybe twice over the entire life of the vehicle. A full replacement belt kit including a new water pump will cost between $150 and $230.
