The 2007 Nissan Altima comes in two different engine configurations across its various trim levels. You'll either have the 2.5L 4Cylinder engine or the 3.5L V6. However, this doesn't affect much as far as timing goes -- both engine variants use a timing chain. This can be either a good or a bad thing, depending on how You look at it. Most automotive enthusiasts agree that timing chains are superior; they have an estimated lifetime of around 250,000 to 300,000 miles. It's likely that Your engine will fail before Your timing chain does. However, in case of unforeseen stretching or other damage, the repair can be quite pricey -- swapping out a chain can cost as much as $3,000, potentially more than the 07 Altima is worth today. Timing belts, on the other hand, nickel and dime You with regular interval changes. Though it's cheaper, You may go througH3 or 4 timing belts within the lifetime of the vehicle, if You're performing proper maintenance.

The 2007 Nissan Altima Both the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine and 3.5L V6 have a timing chain; there is no timing belt. A timing chain doesn't need to be replaced in regular intervals.
