The 2008 Ford Scape has a few climate control problems; so much so that Ford put out a technical service bulletin on the matter. On May 10th, 2010, Ford released TSP 10-8-6, which covered the 2008 and 2009 Ford Escape and Escape Hybrid, as well as the Mercury Mariner and Mariner Hybrid. The TSB notes that these vehicles may "exhibit intermittent or erratic side to side temperature difference and/or temp fluctuation from the climate control vents. The concern may be with the temperature blend door actuator." In order to fix the issue, You'll need to replace Your temperature blend door actuator assembly, if the part number reveals itself to be 8L84-19E616-EA and the date code iS30708 or lower.

The 2008 escape's blower fan has been reported to stop working when a car gets above a certain speed. Issues have also been reported regarding the ac blowing hot air, and the fan motor simply failing to work.
