Any Ford Focus manufactured froM2008 to 2011 comes with a timing chain. Ford went back to using timing belts in several of the engines in the years following though. You can consider Yourself lucky to have a chain because it's typically one less headache to worry about while maintaining Your vehicle. While belts typically need to replaced on A60,000 mile basis, the chain can last for the lifetime of the vehicle under the right circumstances. Belts can become dry over time and wear down and snap but the chain is lubricated by Your engine oil and can continue to run well as long as You make Your scheduled oil changes to keep the chain from drying out. -

The 2008 Ford Focus has a timing chain. Though chains are thought of as "lifetime" parts, they can stretch and wear out. Have them during regular maintenance or if you need to replace your water pump.

Your 2008 ford focus with the 2.0 Liter four cylinder engine has a timing chain. With normal use and maintenance it should last the life of the engine.
