The 2008 Nissan Versa does come standard with a CVT transmission in the vehicle. This is known to be a problem with the vehicle because in 2008 they were in their first generation of CVTs. A CVT works different than a normal transmission because it does not have the same gearbox style setup that we are used to. It has pulleys and belts that constantly adjust the gear ratio to be ideal for the speed of the vehicle and the engine speed. These have been known to fail a lot in the past and unfortunately there are not many people that rebuild them. That usually means that when one fails You will need to replace it with a new one and that can get expensive.
