Does the 2011 BMW X5 have a spare tire?

On new 2011 BMW X5s, the option for a spare tire was provided as an additional $150 upcharge at the point of purchase. All '11 X5 models came with run-flat tires, so this was BMW's way of convincing You that a spare wasn't a necessity, but instead a luxury. Frankly, I think it's quite silly that they'd charge You for something as basic as a donut, but life goes on. Many drivers report picking up a spare tire anyway -- but that can be pricey. Expect to pay up to $700 for a mounted tire. If You've got third row seats, You also won't have an underfloor compartment to store it, so expect that it will take up quite a bit of Your cargo space.
