Does the 2011 Kia Sportage have a timing belt or chain?

The 2011 Kia Sportage, like most other Kia vehicles made in the last decade or so, will have a timing chain and not a belt. Chains are often preferable because of their durability but they do add a little bit to the upfront cost of the vehicle. The downside to that is that if You do run into a problem with Your chain it's not going to be a cheap repair. The symptoms of a bad timing chain include rough idling, a check engine light warning, and if You find bits of metal in Your oil that's a big sign that You should have it looked at as soon as possible.
