The 2013 Ford Fiesta comes standard with a timing belt on the engine. The timing belt is used to keep the timing of the engine correct and it goes over the main gears on the back of the engine. On average You will need to replace Your timing belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. If Your belt were to break it could cause permanent engine damage that would require replacing the entire motor. The timing belt service is the most expensive routine maintenance item on most vehicles and for Yours it will cost $500 to $700 to change. I recommend that You have the water pump replaced when You do it because the most expensive part is the labor to get to the belt.

Definitely belt. No way, 500 to $700. Absolutely wrong. Change it every 5 years or 60,000 . Do not follow the dealer advice once you are try to buy from them. They want save only money. $250 max in my area. Ask around.
